From London origins to Parisian hatmaking

Born in London, Anthony Peto set up his company in Paris in the mid 1980’s. He had fallen in love with the French capital and was enthralled by the centuries of tradition and savoir faire that he discovered there, in all areas of fashion and craftsmanship. At the time there were still many hat workshops and ancillary suppliers working in the heart of the city.

He decided to make it his vocation. His mission: to reinvent the forms and shapes and adapt the techniques, to make them relevant to everyday life. For several decades now his name has been synonymous with exceptional quality, elegance and creativity.
Anthony Peto believes every hat should be as unique as the person who wears it.

Many of our hats are made on wooden blocks, hand sculpted to our special designs.

The final touch before the ribbon is added. This is the part that ensures your hat has the perfect fit for your head.

Atelier 144, named after our workshop, is our couture range of hats, designed for weddings, horse races and all special occasions.

Situated in the heart of Paris’s Saint-Germain, the Atelier 144 boutique showcases our range of spectacular hats, seen at Ascot and the Kentucky Derby, as well as more discrete occasions, depending on what you are looking for and on your own personal style.
