Le Chapelier Fou

Literally, the Mad Hatter, the name of this hat is a reference both to Alice in Wonderland and to the mental disturbances suffered by hat makers over a hundred years ago, due to mercury poisoning from the felt stiffeners they used.

Le Chapelier Fou is an eccentric, tall, top hat with an extra wide curve up to the summit of the crown. This is what gives it its “mad” look so beloved of fans of this kind of shape.
