Noj Barker is a British abstract painter obsessed with a universe that he creates made up of tiny, individually painted dots. Each dot is unique, making up a mesmerising surface that he often combines in photography with other dot universes, to amplify the effect and delve the viewer further into his imaginary world.
A typical photograph of his work might consist of one of his children wearing dot clothing, perhaps playing a musical instrument, against the background of a dot painting or a giant dot sphere.
I wanted to participate in this by making dot hats, using patterns from his paintings which could be worn in these photographs and, I hope, add something to the charm and complexity of the world portrayed in them.
